Kalama Washington

Founded in the late 1840's, Kalama is named for Hawaiian native John Kalama, who settled in the area after marrying the daughter of a Nisqually chief.

In addition to being a busy shipping center, Kalama claims two superlatives: a 140-foot single tree totem pole in Marine Park, and the first fish hatchery in the state.

Kalama is also a hot spot for antique shoppers. 8 antique malls and shop representing over 250 dealers.

Kalama is on Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County between Kelso and Woodland.
