The Kelso Community Development Department is committed to providing excellence in customer service. This department has the overall responsibility of assuring the proper planning and development of quality residential and business neighborhoods, as well as planning for a comprehensive system of open spaces and other enhancements to the city's image. The department provides "one stop shopping" for residents and businesses by consolidating the building, project review, permitting, and inspection functions within one city department. Our overall mission is to continue to improve the quality of life for Kelso citizens.
The Community Development Department which is comprised of two divisions, Building and Planning, is responsible for all annexations, zoning, environmental, shoreline and critical areas reviews, as well as subdivisions and building permits.
