The City of Kelso is seeking qualified, highly-motivated candidates for the position of Civil Engineer in our Community Development department.  Under the general supervision of the Community Development Director/City Engineer, or designee, the civil engineer performs professional and civil engineering work on a variety of City infrastructure projects.  This position prepares maps, statistical information, plans, specifications and cost estimates pertaining to Public Works projects.  They are responsible for the completion of engineering research and will perform design and drafting work on street and utility systems.  The position incumbent works primarily in an office environment characterized by frequent deadlines and constant interruptions, but may spend extensive time in the field gathering information and reviewing existing systems.  Mobility sufficient to attend various meetings and visit work and/or construction sites is necessary.  Movement within and without office is essential.  Must be able to manage multiple objectives and at times conflicting priorities.  See job description for full details.

Requirements: 

Requires: graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering, One year experience in municipal engineering design. Additional experience in related civil engineering may be substitued for the college degree with oe-year experience being equal to on year of college education. Must be able to demonstrate attainment of the necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities provided within the job description. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate general proficiency in the operation of office computer software, and gather and interpret data for professional reports.
