The City of Kelso is seeking qualified, highly-motivated candidates for the position of Senior Engineer in our Engineering division. Under general supervision of the Community Development Director/City Engineer, performs professional level engineering work in a lead capacity on a variety of Public Works projects in areas such as utilities, transportation, and storm water. The Senior Engineer may supervise and/or direct the work assigned professional and technical staff. This position requires frequent contact in person and by telephone and a close working relationship with the department heads and associates. The position incumbent works primarily in an office environment characterized by frequent deadlines and constant interruptions but may be required to work in the field occasionally. Must be able to manage multiple objectives and at times conflicting priorities. Movement within and without the office is essential.
Requires graduation from a four year college or university with a Degree in Civil Engineering. Three years of experience in municipal engineering design preferred. Must be able to demonstrate attainment of the necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities provided within the job description.
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate general proficiency in the operation of office computer software, and gather and interpret data for professional reports.

Part Time Library Page/ Clerk
$ 9.47 per hour

The City of Kelso is seeking two qualified, highly-motivated candidates for the position of Part Time Library Page/ Clerk at the Kelso Library. This position checks library material in and out, assists the public with computers and photocopier, performs clerical tasks, and keeps library materials in order. The Library Page/Clerk reports to the Library Manager but will take direction from the Library Assistants for day to day assignments. This position requires frequent public contact in person and by telephone. Must be able to multi-task. Movement within the Library is essential.
Generally are currently in high school. If older: Requires a high school diploma or GED from an accredited school. Some experience in a school or public library is preferred. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word (word processing) and computer keyboarding. Must be able demonstrate attainment of the necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities provided within the position description.
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrate general proficiency in the operation of office computer software. Strong organizational skills and customer service values are required.

Water/Sewer Maintenance Technician
$3,547 - $4,434/Month
Under supervision of the Water/Sewer Supervisor or designated lead, performs skilled labor in support of the construction and maintenance of the Water Distribution and Sewer Collection systems to contribute to their safety and functionality. Subject to work after hours and weekends as required.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Prefer one year in a water/sewer construction environment and/or one year in water treatment plant operation and maintenance or equivalent.
Certifications and Licenses:
Flagging certification, Washington State motor vehicle license with commercial driver’s endorsement, Labor and Industries First Aid Card with cardio-pulmonary certification. Specific job assignments may require Washington State DOH Water Distribution Manage 1 certification and WWCPA Wastewater Collection 1 or ability to obtain Washington State DOH Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 certifications (within 3 years).
